The fitness journey is more than just the number on the scale…

When I joined Fit Camp one year ago, I had no idea how much it would change my life. At our initial consultation, I wrote a page full of my injuries including two knee surgeries, a herniated disc, and neck problems from an accident. Trainer Mikey Estrella told me that I was more than my limitations on that page. I didn’t believe him at first. Now one year later, I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for decades.

I trust Mikey because he knows what exercises to do and how to push me while making sure I don’t add things to my injury list. He is the ultimate life coach and your biggest cheerleader. He is there for me every step of the way. He helped me reach my first major goal of losing 50 pounds in a year.

As a teacher, I have the luxury to go on hikes and workout for hours during the summer. However, I had a set-back once I returned to school. I’ve been an emotional eater for decades, so that bad habit was hard to resist when dealing with stress. For the next 6 months, the weight started to creep up. I felt so discouraged and was afraid I’d gain it all back. Mikey encouraged me to join the Fit X Competition and it was exactly what I needed to get back on track. A key component was his guidance with my nutrition. I was so excited to learn that I won the $1,000 grand prize by losing 24 pounds in 60 days, doing 50 push-ups in a minute, and 106 sit-ups in a minute. To demonstrate how good Mikey is, I could barely do 1 push-up 60 days prior. He believed in me and led me to doing 50. I could have never achieved that without him.

The fitness journey is more than just the number on the scale. I’ve discovered new passion for powerlifting, running, and sled dragging close to 700 pounds. I love feeling strong. When you’re on Team Mikey, you’re a champion. That’s me. A champion.

“encouraged me to face my fears…

How do you put into words what a great coach does for his/her athlete? The relationship
between coach and athlete is much more than that of a trainer and the many people they train
throughout the week. Someone who trains, tells their client what to do in hopes that the person on the
other end who is paying hundreds to thousands of dollars, complies. Mikey may call himself a trainer
but to those he trains; he is a coach.
I walked in the doors of Fit Camp almost two years ago having lost nearly 70 pounds. I knew I
still wasn’t healthy. I wanted to commit to my health with the focus of an award-winning athlete. I was
ready. I knew Mikey would get me to my goals. He is engaged. He watches your performance and
adjusts it to your ability level. He pushes you. He cheers you on to hit one more. He knows when
you’ve given your all. He wants to know what motivates you. Why are you here? He listens and
responds professionally to concerns about diet or overall health. He’s knowledgeable about muscle gain
and fat loss. He does all this and more for each of his athletes with a professionalism and humble
attitude that is unmatched. He’s not a gimmick. Mikey’s not there just to count reps and collect money;
I’ve had those trainers.
Most importantly, Mikey motivates others. He walks his talk. He is nicknamed, “Mighty Mikey”
because of his mind-blowing success in the world of Powerlifting. That’s how he quickly became my
coach. I’ve always enjoyed working with weights and Mikey encouraged me to try powerlifting. Then
he  (and at times crippling anxiety) to compete in a powerlifting meet.
Three meets later with three medals I now call myself an athlete. We did it! My coach and I make a
great team. If you want to get your physical and mental health to the best it’s ever been, then contact
Mikey. You might even have fun along the way but don’t tell him that!

“works with you to determine your goals…

Fit Camp and Mikey changed our lives.  We were struggling to maintain weights that felt right to us and to feel strong and healthy.  Mikey knows his stuff!  He has not only taught us about nutrition and the importance of fitness goals but he continues to challenge us and to push us farther than we think we can go, all the while cheering us on and celebrating our accomplishments with us.

Personal trainers can be intimidating and may push you in a way that makes you uncomfortable.  Mikey is different, he works with you to determine your goals and how you can be most successful.  If you have an old injury and can’t do an exercise that will benefit you, he can find 10 other ways for you to work those same muscles without stressing your old injury.  If you hate the word diet and have refused to diet all your life, he can work with you to find eating habits that work for you, not too restrictive yet will yield results.

Working with Mikey as a couple has helped each one of us be more successful than we would have been on our own.  While we have different skills and different routines, we each understand the philosophy at Fit Camp and the others program which enables us to hold each other accountable and more easily support each other.  Additionally, when we aren’t at Fit Camp, we easily workout together even though we have different strengths and fitness levels.

Big thanks to Fit Camp for partnering on my self-transformation journey this last year. When I first walked in for my initial consultation they asked several questions to determine how to best meet my fitness goals. But, one I won’t forget. “What are you most concerned about?” I said, “Not reaching my goal and losing the weight… again.” He looked me square in the eye and said, “We won’t let you fail. We don’t quit”. He has held true to that statement. One year later, I am celebrating reaching my goal of 75lbs lost. Even though I walked in wanting to lose weight, I have gained so much more in healthy habits, energy, strength (mental and physical), confidence, discipline, and the friendship of staff and clients. I can’t wait to see what this next year will bring! *

What an incredible journey this has been…

I can’t thank you all enough for supporting, encouraging, and challenging me as I start this new life style of eating healthy and staying physically fit.  Like most clients, one of my goals was to lose weight and I can’t believe that I am actually reaching my weight goal by eating right, doing strength training, and cardio.*  I am most excited of being able to jog again after many years of not running.  It feels great to have the stamina to run again!  What makes Fit Camp different from other gyms, boot camps, and classes, is they listen to what your needs are, they meet you where you are in your fitness level, and design a workout program specifically for you.  You have personal training in a private studio at a time that is convenient for you-no more excuses!  The trainers make it a point to get to know you and it is this relationship that keeps me accountable and makes me strive to challenge myself.  Thank you again for all that you have done for me!” *

I look the best I have in my whole adult life…

I woke up one day at 50 years old and going through menopause. It seemed like over night my mid-section went from somewhat presentable to resembling the Michelin man. When I waved to people my arms waved back like a bowl of jello. I went to my doctor for some advice. She said “it’s your age, deal with it, and take these pills”. I got home and shredded the prescription. I decided I was going to deal with this without medical intervention. Then I got a mailer from Fit Camp. I have been working with these awesome trainers since then and have improved my life, and looks, I feel, for the better. I look the best I have in my whole adult life. Better than my 40’s, 30’s and even my 20’s. And I feel the most healthy, most energetic and even sleep better than I ever have before. All you women out there who think you have to accept that getting older has to be an ugly thing, think twice! I am comfortable wearing a bikini for the first time in a very long time. I could not have done this without Fit Camp. Don’t wait to feel this amazing. Thank you all!” *

I feel like I’m in complete control of my life, my health and my happiness.

I am a breast cancer survivor and I have Multiple Sclerosis. Following an extensive procedure and a slow recovery I started training with Fit Camp in April 2013 with one simple goal… to lose 25 pounds. I had no idea that weight loss, which was successful by the way, would be the least impressive aspect of my Fit Camp experience.

I have been working out with my trainer, Mikey, for a year now and, yes, I lost the 25 pounds*, but that isn’t the half of it. What I gained from the Fit Camp experience has been even more impressive and empowering. Since working out with Fit Camp, my yearly MRI showed no progression of my MS.* None! When I met with my doctor he was astonished and attributed this advance to my thoughtful and effective exercise regimen with Fit Camp. While you cannot reverse MS, you can reverse the symptoms, but only with exercise!* I have been asked to share these results with MS patients to inspire others to use exercise to combat the symptoms of MS.*

I am not a “natural” exerciser and I don’t frequent the gym. I was reluctant to try working out with a trainer because I thought it would be him against me, and when I couldn’t perform, there would be shame. I was the model for workout anxiety. But my experience at Fit Camp couldn’t have been more different than this. Mikey and I are a team, we share the same goal, and we celebrate the successes together and rethink things when needed. Mikey’s motto is “tomorrow is a new day” and I feel like I’m in complete control of my life, my health and my happiness. I can’t even imagine not having Fit Camp as a routine part of my new and happy life.” *

All three of the trainers here are top notch, professional and sincerely caring.

Last year, I moved to Washington and, as the rainy season approached, I knew that I had to do something different with my life. At 51 years old, I weighed almost 163 pounds and was pretty sedentary. It could only get worse, if I continued like this. I knew I wanted more out of life, and had to make some major changes before it was too late. I had heard some positive things about Fit Camp Woodinville, and decided to check it out for myself.
I liked that it was a private studio, where I could work with a trainer one on one in a way that was relevant to me, and took into account my current level of fitness, but with a solid nutritional and exercise plan which was introduced to me in a very sensible and methodical way. I also liked that the training was done in an intimate environment, and not in the middle of a busy and overwhelming one. I’ve had the pleasure of working with all three of the trainers here, and they are all top notch, professional and sincerely caring. I liked that aspect the most!
Mikey has been my principal trainer, and he has been an amazing one! Initially my main goal was just to get fit, and hopefully reduce to 145 pounds. After hitting this goal in about 4 months*, it led me to want to go further. In just 7 months, I’ve lost a total of 29 pounds* and, more importantly, gained more stamina and strength than I have had in a very long time. I’d like to lose a few more pounds, but right now I’m thrilled to feel younger and more energetic. I finally feel like I am becoming the person I was meant to be.
I also appreciate that I have been able to work out even when I’ve had minor injuries, because Mikey has been able to adapt his training instantly, in a way that keeps me going, but does not cause further injury. He really knows his stuff, and is encouraging, without being pushy. He has worked hard to make me successful, and I could not have asked for a more gifted trainer!
Fit Camp Woodinville is great for people of all fitness levels, and the trainers here will help you get to the next level. More importantly, they are great people with a positive attitude, who really care about the fitness goals of their clients. This place has literally made my life so much better, and I sincerely mean that. It’s the best investment in “me” that I have ever made. I want to express my deep gratitude to Mikey, and the whole Team. You guys are the best!” *

Thanks for everything Zach, I never would have been able to do it without you!

I would like to give a special thanks to Zach. I started training with Zach when I was a junior in high school, I had dreams of being a college football player, but I was nowhere near the size that I needed to be to get recruited by most schools. After doing personal training with Zach I gained more muscle than I ever thought was possible in a short amount of time through proper nutrition and a well designed workout plan.* Now I have a full ride to play NCAA division 1 football.* Thanks for everything Zach, I never would have been able to do it without you!” *

I needed motivation and help getting back into an exercise routine.

Kathi before and after Fit Camp personal training

In 2013 after getting a bad case of acid reflux, I knew something had to change. This was my body telling me something was not right! I needed motivation and help getting back into an exercise routine and an online search led me to Fit Camp in Woodinville. The best way to describe Fit Camp is PERSONAL training because your fitness goal is their goal. Fit Camp is a fun, positive and challenging place to workout. The trainers are motivating and will hold you accountable. You workout one-on-one during a time that works best for you. I have lost weight, lowered my body fat and incorporated healthy eating back into my life.* It has been very rewarding to have more energy and feel happier and healthier.
Recently I have been focusing on running. I have never been a runner and it seemed like great way to stay in shape and burn calories. I remember the Saturday that my personal trainer, Mikey told me to hop on the treadmill and run a mile. I was nervous, did not have a lot of confidence and did not want to be embarrassed by how slow I ran. Mikey was very supportive and said, “You can only improve from here,” and, “I will be standing right by your side.” Step by step together we have set and achieved goals of becoming faster and increasing my endurance. This past Saturday I ran for an entire hour! I have been smiling the whole week.
Things I thought would never happen were becoming status quo. I used to look at people running on the treadmill and think, “If only I could do that.” Well now I can! For me, being at Fit Camp has been an empowering journey. I am excited to see what I can accomplish in the coming months. If you want to get started on a fitness goal, invest in personal training, invest in yourself and invest in Fit Camp!” *
Thanks Zach and Mikey!
